PharMetrics Module Measures Product Value

December 21 2005

PharMetrics, a unit of IMS Health, has launched a new Cost of Care market intelligence module to measure and assess the value of pharmaceutical products. The service, which incorporates insights from patients, is designed to help pharma marketers create more value-oriented messages.

PharMetrics provides healthcare market insights based on a proprietary database of longitudinal, integrated medical and pharmaceutical claims data. The new module forms part of PharMetrics' Profiler Series suite of strategic brand-planning products. It is designed to supplement traditional pharmaco-economic studies to help companies assess the total healthcare cost associated with different treatment approaches.

Michael Weintraub, President of PharMetrics, explains the benefit of the new product: 'Differentiating a brand based on its economic value is a critical success factor, especially in light of the impending Medicare Modernization Act changes. The Cost of Care module provides key stakeholders with better insights to assess and communicate the economic value of pharmaceutical products.'

PharMetrics is online at www.pharmetrics.com.
