The Market Research Society of India (MRSI), which recently opened a new chapter in Bangalore, is planning to introduce a new system of consumer classification to reflect the country's changing consumer landscape.
MRSI President B V Pradeep said the current Socio-Economic Classification system is outdated. He added that a new system is being developed to take account of the changing socio-economic conditions of Indian consumers. The system is 'in its last stage', and will be launched next month.
Pradeep, who is also VP of Consumer and Market Insights at HLL, was speaking at the launch of the Bangalore chapter of the MRSI. The new chapter, which joins the MRSI's Delhi chapter and Mumbai headquarters, reflects the growth of market research in the south of the country.
