September 29 2006

Lux Research, Inc., a research firm focused on nanotechnology and the physical sciences, has appointed Joe Raguso as Vice President of Strategic Business Development. He was previously CEO of UK-based QinetiQ Nanomaterials, Ltd. (QNL), a subsidiary of major defence and security company QinetiQ Group plc.

Prior to QNL, Raguso was VP of Strategic Partnerships and Business Development for SRI International in Menlo Park, California. He has also held high-profile government positions including Science and Technology Advisor for the state of California, helping to create Science and Innovation bodies including the California Nanosystems Institute; and as Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary in the U.S. Department of Commerce's Technology Administration under Clinton and Gore. He has a B.S. and Master's degree from Alfred University in Ceramic Engineering and Glass Science, respectively, and a Master's degree in Technology and Policy from MIT.

Raguso will be based in Lux Research's San Francisco office and will focus on developing domestic and international partnerships and business activities. Lux Research CEO Peter Hebert says that the firm's clients 'need critical advice on physical sciences from an executive who has walked a mile in their shoes. Joe is just the person to deliver.'

Raguso will be among the speakers at Lux's upcoming Executive Summit on nanotechnology strategy, on October 16-17 in Cambridge, Massachusetts – details at www.luxexecutivesummit.com . The company's home page is at www.luxresearchinc.com .
