Nielsen Media Research has announced that its Local People Meter (LPM) technology will be launched in the five key centres of Phoenix, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Miami and Denver, in 2008.
LPMs are already used in ten top US media markets, with Houston, Seattle and Tampa due to be added in 2007. Nielsen pledged to add 15 markets to this list as part of its Anytime Anywhere Media Measurement (A2/M2) initiative, announced earlier this year.
The system, which replaces a combination of electronic set meters and paper diaries, is planned for a roll-out as follows:
