Following its December announcement, Nielsen has today completed the sale of most of its Business Media Europe (BME) division to venture capital firm, 3i - negotiations to sell the French arm are still ongoing. Terms of the sale were not released.
BME publishes more than 70 print titles, including Accountancy Age, ComputerActive, CRN, Computing, Financial Director, Information World Review, IT Week and Personal Computer World. The firm operates across UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium.
The firm's stake in Netherlands and Chinese trade show producer, Jaarbeurs, is not included in the sale.
The move continues the drastic restructuring of the group following its delisting, and sharpens its focus on its core media measurement and MR businesses, reflected in the name change last month from VNU to The Nielsen Company. The group has plans to cut about 4,000 jobs this year.
The Nielsen Company has twin headquarters in the Netherlands and New York and is online at: www.nielsen.com .
