Nielsen Promotes TV Ratings Trio

From 1 October, Nielsen will be reshuffling its television ratings unit to give three of its most senior executives new responsibilities - they are Catherine Herkovic, Kevin Svenningsen and Tom Ziangas.

Catherine Herkovic, Kevin Svenningsen and Tom ZiangasHerkovic becomes Senior VP and MD National Television Client Services, where she will oversee client services and sales for the firm's national TV ratings business. She has worked for Nielsen for more than 23 years and moves up from her previous role as General Manager for Nielsen Media Research's Local Business unit. Prior to this, Herkovic worked as Senior VP in charge of sales and marketing for the Nielsen Station Index (NSI), the local television station measurement service where she began her career as a Research Analyst in 1984.

Herkovic is replaced by Svenningsen, who as Senior VP and MD Local Television Client Services will lead the local TV ratings service with responsibility for client services and sales. He was previously Senior VP Sales and Marketing for the Nielsen Agency, Broadcast and Syndicator Service (NABSS), and before this, VP in charge of the Nielsen Syndication Services (NSS), a role he commenced in 1997. Svenningsen began his career at Nielsen Media Research in 1988 as an Analyst in NTI (Nielsen Television Index), left for a short period when he worked at McCann-Erickson, and rejoined NTI in 1991.

Herkovic and Svenningsen will continue to report to Sara Erichson, Executive VP of Nielsen Media Research Client Services North America.

Ziangas will take on the role of Senior VP Nielsen Sports, overseeing the development of new products, sales, client service and business strategy for television sports measurement. He was previously Senior VP National Television Client Services, in charge of all sales and marketing functions for national cable network clients. Ziangas will report to Terrie Brennan, Senior VP New Business Development & Strategy.

According to Dave Thomas, President Media Client Services, the experience of the three within the company will provide major benefits in their new roles. 'Since they are all Nielsen veterans who have worked in a variety of senior positions within the Local and National business units, they will be able to develop cross company initiatives that provide our clients with integrated solutions.'
