In the US, Internet ratings firm Quantcast has launched the Quantified Publisher programme, a free suite of online measurement services for publishers.

The programme enables publishers to tag their web sites, videos, widgets and games to give a direct measure of the composition of their audiences. Services include traffic overviews for individual media properties, unduplicated reach and aggregated traffic statistics with a single point of control for multiple sites and services, secure measurement of transactional pages on e-commerce sites, and tools tracking interaction with Flash-based content including videos and widgets.

'More than 15,000 publishers with several million web media assets have already joined our free programme,' said Co-founder and CEO Konrad Feldman. 'This provides a robust suite of media measurement services that helps publishers better understand and monetise their properties.'

San Francisco-headquartered Quantcast measures more than a billion page views per day to produce traffic, demographic and lifestyle profiles of online audiences.
