'On Track' YouGov Hires Technology Head

December 7 2007

YouGov has announced trading 'in line with the Board's expectations' in the 2007 financial year to date, including in its three newly acquired businesses. Meanwhile Dr Michel Floyd joins as Global CTO.

The company completed the acquisitions in Scandinavia, America (www.mrweb.com/drno/news7148.htm ) and Germany (www.mrweb.com/drno/news7105.htm ) in September, and says integration is progressing well. German subsidiary psychonomics will begin recruiting a new online panel next week, with a target to reach 50,000 respondents.

YouGov has also reported that its consumer brand evaluation tool BrandIndex (www.mrweb.com/drno/news4736.htm ) is due to be fully operational in Germany, Scandinavia and America in the first quarter of the next calendar year, and it is planning to roll out a unified reporting system across the group.

Floyd has been brought in to achieve 'high levels of innovation, quality, security, reliability and efficiency' across YouGov's worldwide enterprise.

Based in the California office, Floyd reports to CEO Nadhim Zahawi and sits on the company's Operating Board. He has a 20-year background working in high-tech firms, and joins from his previous role as CTO at Knowledge Networks and EVP of its online panel business. Before this, he held VP Engineering posts at Preview Software, Optimal Networks and Systems & Networks. He has a doctorate in Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Zahawi commented: 'Without Internet technology YouGov would not exist. I'm delighted to have a person of Michel's calibre leading our technology team; he reinforces our ability to innovate quickly while increasing the scalability and reliability of our core systems and processes.'

The firm is online at www.yougov.com.
