New Agency to Offer 'Handmade' Online MR

In the UK, YouGov's former Head of Market Research Mark Hodson has launched a new agency with the aim of providing the 'handmade' feel of traditional market research in the online marketplace.

Based in London, Opinium Research provides full-service MR and project management, and is building an online research panel in the UK, using Vision Critical's Panel+ web survey software (www.mrweb.com/drno/news7695.htm ). Hodson's experience has been gained over more than twenty-five years spent working in a variety of blue chip companies. As well as his agency-side experience at YouGov, he has held senior research management positions at ONdigital (ITVdigital), the RAC, London Underground, Which? (Consumers' Association) and IPC Southbank Magazines.

His new team includes Partner Emma Smith, Research Executive Oliver Watts, Panel Manager Misha Tsvelik and Head of Sales Carlton Smith. PR and public affairs consultancy Lansons Communications has taken a 25% stake in the business, and the company's CEO Tony Langham has joined the Opinium board.

Opinium will offer research in customer loyalty, employee satisfaction, public sector, financial services and media research, and its Omnibus will sample 2,000 British adults.
