YouGov to Put Money Where Mouth Is

March 6 2008

In the UK, online market research agency YouGov has signed an agreement with stockbroker Numis and equity fund management firm FOUR Capital Partners, to form a venture hedge fund to exploit investment opportunities identified through its consumer research.

Numis will lead fund-raising activities, provide investment research and executions services, while FOUR Capital will identify investments. YouGov Co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer Stephan Shakespeare will also be CEO of the new company, which will be known as YouGovAlpha Fund.

The agency says this joint venture will build on the success of YouGovAlpha, which was launched last year as 'the UK's only market research agency dedicated to the specific needs of fund managers and investment professionals' (www.mrweb.com/drno/news7157.htm ).

'The creation of this joint venture is the natural and logical extension of the success YouGov has had in providing the investment community with accurate research,' said Nadhim Zahawi, Co-founder and CEO of YouGov. 'Our market insights will provide investors with a genuine point of differentiation at a time when markets are challenging; exactly the time when investors need to be confident in their trading strategies.'

Separately, YouGov's President and Non-Executive Director Peter Kellner is standing down from the company's board. He will remain as emeritus President, and will continue working with the firm's media, political and other clients, on a part-time basis.

Yesterday, the firm announced the appointment of Andy Barker, who has been brought in to develop its qualitative offer (www.mrweb.com/drno/news8049.htm ). Web site: www.yougov.com.
