Pulse Group to Extend AsiaPac Travel Survey

May 8 2008

Pulse Group is to give regional coverage to its online travel survey. Already rolled out in Malaysia with support from Tourism Malaysia, the firm plans to extend the study to other markets including Singapore, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

The programme will explore the impact the Internet will have on the future role of travel agents, the need for those in the travel industry to embark on Internet marketing, the importance of travel portals and the shift of advertising focus from traditional media to online media.

Results from the initial online survey of 30,000 Malaysian respondents showed that of the 54% who made travel bookings online, 62% were in the 21-30 age bracket compared with 27% in the 31-40 year age group.

Reasons for not booking travel online included a lack of awareness about travel booking web sites, online payment barriers such as ownership of credit cards, and lack of trust or reliability.

Research Process Outsourcing (RPO) firm Pulse Group is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with regional offices in New York, London, Sydney and New Delhi, and is on the web at www.pulse-group.com .
