Qosmos Gains €7m Funds, with Help from GfK

May 13 2008

In France, information extraction software firm Qosmos has closed a third round of fundraising worth EUR 7m (US$10.8m), led by venture capital firms Sofinnova Partners and Alven Capital, along with MR agency GfK.

The new funding will fuel Qosmos' product development, expand operations to the US and Asia, and increase staff numbers.

Qosmos provides software that detects and extracts information from IP (Internet Protocol) networks in real time, and its patented ixDPI technology enables customers to monitor the information travelling over these networks. This system has already been used by clients to create a wide variety of services such as digital home audience measurement, customer experience management and digital content flow.

'The continued investment from Sofinnova Partners and the equity participation of Alven Capital and GfK underscore the relevance of our strategy and the solid growth potential of our solutions,' said CEO Thibaut Bechetoille. 'This financing allows us to invest in the people and technologies that strengthen our position as a leader in the European market, as well as boost our presence worldwide.'

GfK Management Board member and President of the Retail and Technology Division, Gérard Hermet, described Qosmos' technologies as 'groundbreaking innovation' providing the market research industry with the ability to deliver accurate, reliable and comprehensive statistics in real-time.
