Qosmos Launches Data Extraction Tools

June 10 2008

French-based data extraction firm Qosmos has launched two new applications which it says will help researchers monitor and extract information in real-time and conduct more 'granular' audience analysis.

The firm claims its ixEngine and ixMachine tools expand its existing capabilities for DPI (deep packet inspection) technology, which monitors data sent over the Internet.

ixEngine enables metadata and content extraction, while the ixMachine tool is used by system integrators to feed third party systems with high spec information.

Qosmos CEO Thibaut Bechetoille commented: 'The next frontier for DPI solutions lies in information extraction, which opens the market horizontally to all sorts of companies which can create new applications based on this network intelligence.'

In May, Qosmos secured EUR 7m in funding, led by venture capital firms Sofinnova Partners and Alven Capital, along with GfK. Gérard Hermet, President of GfK's Retail and Technology Division, said that the new solutions enable real-time audience measurement analysis that has not been possible before.
