Analysys Mason Buys Software Research Firm

UK-based IT and telecoms insight specialist Analysys Mason has acquired OSS Observer, a US-based telecom software market research firm. Terms were not disclosed.

Larry Goldman and Patrick KellyFounded in 2003, OSS Observer delivers analysis of the global telecom software market to vendors, operators, integrators and the financial community. Services include market share estimates, forecasts, and in-depth analyses of trends in the sector.

OSS Observer's team of analysts will be integrated into Analysys Mason's existing Research Division and the firm's co-founders Larry Goldman and Patrick Kelly will take the roles of Head of Global Telecom Software, and Research Director in Global Telecom Software respectively.

Commenting on the acquisition, Analysys Mason CEO Simon Jones said: 'OSS Observer is a recognized leader in its field. Both culturally, and in terms of service offerings, they are an ideal fit within the Analysys Mason portfolio.'

Goldman added that the move will strengthen his team's ability to serve current customers and expand the scope of its telecom software research.

Earlier in the year, Analysys Mason acquired telecoms and media consultancy Redbox Consulting. The firm has more than 300 staff, and is headquartered in London with additional offices in Cambridge, Dubai, Dublin, Edinburgh, Madrid, Manchester, Milan, Paris, Singapore and Washington DC.
