Ipsos Launches Facebook 'Fun Polls'

August 8 2008

Online survey specialist, Ipsos Interactive Services (IIS) has launched an interactive tool to enable US panellists to participate in 'fun polls' posted on Facebook.

The new Poll Predictor challenges users to correctly guess the percentage of 'yes' answers to a variety of questions. For example, panellists can guess how many Americans make their bed in the mornings, how many would inform on a cheating friend, or what percentage believe in UFOs.

Senior Interactive Media Analyst Andres Burgos led the initiative, while Director of Panel Analytics Annie Pettit tested the data.

'I wanted to create an interactive online game that encompasses elements of market research,' explained Burgos. 'Poll Predictor provides the opportunity to engage with our current panelists and also has the potential to attract new members.'

The 1,100 questions used for the game were drawn from a recent survey conducted across the US to determine the behavior of the American Public.

Through Poll Predictor Ipsos says it aims to promote its i-Say online panel to a younger user base by tapping in to Facebook's user group of more than 80 million active members. In addition, the firm recently partnered with Peanut Labs - which provides access to members of social networking sites - to improve its reach among the 13-34 year old demographic.

IIS has offices in 11 cities around the globe. Web site: www.ipsos-interactive.com .
