Newspaper Agency Boosts Insight and Marketing Teams

September 3 2008

In London, the Newspaper Marketing Agency (NMA) has made a number of appointments in marketing and insight roles, responding to demand for more campaign assessment and audience research.

The NMA provides information about consumers' use of the national newspapers' print and online formats, and partners with consumer brands to study the effectiveness of newspaper ads. In August, the agency launched its Noa (Newspapers Online Analytics) tool to provide data about readership of national newspapers online.

The expanded marketing work will be led by Anne Foster, who becomes Director of Strategy and Marketing, while the expanded research resource will be led by Judy Harman, who becomes Planning Director. Foster and Harman both report to CEO Maureen Duffy.

The new hires include Philippa Stanners, who joins from ITV as Consumer Insight Manager, and Bibi Cotman has joined from AMV/BBDO as an Account Planner. Both will report to Harman in the planning team, joining Marketing Manager Jamie Willard and Marketing Executive Henry Vernon, who both joined the NMA as graduates.

NMA Projects Controller Rhona Livesey has been appointed Relationship Marketing Controller, taking a leading advocacy role in relationships with agencies and newspapers, working closely with Duffy.

Tim Snow has joined the NMA as Marketing Manager, reporting to Foster. He previously worked in Australia for Acushnet, part of Fortune Brands. David Hunt joins as Marketing Executive, also reporting to Foster. He has worked in marketing with First Choice Holidays and on the agency side with BDH/TBWA Manchester.

'This is a significant expansion of the NMA, in response to demand,' said Duffy. 'The extra investment by the newspapers represents a vote of confidence in the work of the NMA, which has made substantial progress in changing agency and client perceptions of national newspapers.'
