GfK Extends Asian Optics Trackers

GfK is adding to its optical products tracking services in Asia. The firm will soon begin tracking spectacle lens and other optical products in Taiwan, in addition to the existing contact lens retail measurement, and says it will develop new markets in the region.

New results for Taiwan show a retail contact lens market worth around $200m by the end of the year. With Taiwan optics industry measurement now in place, GfK says it is well on track to develop Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia optics research to add to its existing Japan and China measurement.

Last November, GfK took over the optics panel from Nielsen in Japan, and by this summer, the firm had conducted its first Pan Asia contact lens retail forecast.

Based in Singapore, with other offices in India and Japan, GfK Asia provides retail and technology market data across the AsiaPac region.
