Text Analysis Firms Combine Resources

December 2 2008

US-based text mining firm Leximancer has partnered with UK-based Polecat, a firm which draws marketing insight from external and internal data sources such as intranets, blogs, customer feedback, audio and video, and analyst reports.

The new agreement allows Polecat to integrate its SaaS-based solution with Leximancer's web service interface and market the enhanced platform under its own brand.

Polecat's MeaningMine platform unearths a company's 'reputation resonance' by taking a holistic view of stakeholders (internal and external) to provide a full 360-degree view of perceptions.

This will be combined with Leximancer's patent-pending software platform, which allows users to automatically extract the root causes of customer attitudes from Internet communications, as well as data in the form of e-mails, service notes, call center notes, voice transcripts and survey feedback.

Polecat co-founder James Lawn described Leximancer's platform as being 'years ahead' of any other text analytics platform in the market. The launch of the integrated systems is expected before the end of the year. Leximancer's CEO Neil Hartley said that Polecat's existing applications, paired with his firm's platform, will enable brand managers to 'uncover hidden insights about their brands, products and services.'

In September, Leximancer relocated its London office to Boulder, Colorado
