Analyst Jobs To Go at IDC

Tech analyst IDC has announced the loss of 82 jobs in the US, equivalent to 5% of its worldwide workforce of c.1,650, and including twenty-six research analysts.

Framingham, MA-based IDC says the losses are 'due to the impact of the economic recession', but points out that it hired 50 new analysts in the second half of 2008, and will still have more than 1,000 research analysts worldwide.

Rival Gartner said in January that it was cutting 117 workers worldwide, despite a healthy 2008 - the firm posted a 1% increase in fourth quarter profit to $347.3m, and a 9% revenue increase to $1.28bn for the year.
