London-based research and insight training company the Research Academy has appointed Chris Taylor and Marianne Highwood as Tutors for its MRS Advanced Certificate students.

The business was founded in 2013 by former YouthSight AD and University of Westminster lecturer Mia Lorenz (pictured), to offer face-to-face and distance learning courses for the MRS Advanced Certificate and the MRS Diploma in Market & Social Research.

Taylor joins with more than twenty years’ experience in research, consultancy, and marketing services management. His background in academic research includes studying research methods at Aston University and subsequently working as a Policy Analyst and as a Senior Lecturer in a business school. After moving into service management, Taylor led market strategy at Staffordshire University and at Northumbria University, and held a similar post in an NHS training college. He also spent four years as a Management Consultant in an ad agency, and he has run his own research consultancy Lawson Taylor Research since 2007.

Highwood has worked in both agency and client side market research roles for almost 30 years. She began her career at Gallup as a Political and Social Researcher, then led the research team at a tourism and leisure consultancy. She also worked with the Market Intelligence team at Smiths Medical, and she currently works as a freelance market researcher specialising in customer satisfaction, employee engagement and new product/service development. In addition, she is a Sessional Lecturer in the Business School at Canterbury Christ Church University, and she previously worked for Bromley College of Further and Higher Education as Programme Director and Senior Lecturer in the HE Business Department.
