UK-based insight industry language specialist Empower Translate has appointed long-time translation sector exec Paula Shannon as a member of its Advisory Board and Non-Executive Director.

Re-branded in 2019, Bristol-based Empower specialises in providing bespoke MR language solutions for research agencies, corporate insight departments, marketing consultancies and drug manufacturers. Shannon (pictured) currently serves as 'Chief Evangelist' at artificial intelligence-powered enterprise translation technology and services firm Lilt.

Before founding Canada-based sales consultancy Salosophy in 2017, she worked for translation and localization solutions firm Lionbridge, serving as Chief Sales Officer, SVP and spending three years as Co-General Manager in Operations. Earlier, she was CSO and CMO at worldwide translation specialist Alpnet (acquired by SDL), and she spent a decade at language training and cultural consulting services business Berlitz International as Regional Manager, North America, National Accounts.

Shannon joins recently appointed Dan Foreman on the Empower Translate Advisory Board, and the firm's CEO Ruth Partington comments: 'Paula's immense expertise in localization and internationally-recognised achievements in the world of sales are second-to-none in the industry.
