$13m Fuels Expansion Plans for Visible Measures

September 23 2011

US-based video analytics firm Visible Measures has added another $13m in financing to the $32m won previously, and will use the money for product development and expansion of its staff.

The latest, Series D round was led by established backer DAG Ventures and new strategic partner Advance Publications, Inc. The funds will be used to accelerate the development of the firm's patented social video analytics and advertising platform, which now receives performance data on more than 400 million videos and over 300 million unique video viewers every month; and to expand its sales force and support infrastructure to match a growing client base.

Headquartered in Boston, the company now has offices in five other US cities and in London. In the summer, it appointed former Google Analytics leader Paul Botto as General Manager of its analytics and measurement businesses.

New partner Advance is the owner of Conde Nast, the publisher responsible for Wired, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Vogue and reddit.com. Also joining DAG again in this round are existing investors General Catalyst Partners, Mohr Davidow Ventures, and Northgate Capital.

Brian Shin, founder and CEO of Visible Measures says all the existing investors have been 'incredible partners' as the firm has grown so dramatically, and adds: 'Advance Publications, with their incredible breadth of media properties, will be an excellent partner to help us increase the scope of our offerings.' Advance's SVP Strategy & Corp Development Andrew Siegel comments: 'We believe that the application of data and analytics will be the catalyst to shift billions of TV ad dollars online over time. Visible Measures is uniquely positioned to deliver Google-style ROI measurement across the increasingly sought-after segment known as Earned Media.'
