comScore's International Revenues Boom

November 3 2011

Online measurement firm comScore has reported third quarter revenue up an impressive 29% to $58.8m, although expenses also grew very rapidly leaving profits little changed.

Magid AbrahamAdjusted EBITDA was $10.7m in the quarter, up a fraction from $10.4m in Q3 2010, and before adjustments the firm still managed to record a higher net loss (up from $2.1m in Q3 2010 to $3.9m) and lower net income ($6.9m, from $8.2m). Around $5m in costs are attributed to patent and privacy litigation, acquisitions and restructuring.

The revenue jump, from $45.7m in this quarter a year ago, was led by very rapid growth in international sales: from less than 20% in Q3 2010, non-US revenues now make up 27% of the total, having grown 77% in the year. US sales grew by a more modest but still impressive 17%.

President and CEO Dr Magid Abraham says that in Q3, the firm experienced 'continued strength' from products and verticals such as Media Metrix 360 and the AdEffx suite.

In the fourth quarter of 2011, the company is expecting revenue in the range of $63.1m to $63.7m, and for the full year $232.9m to $233.5m.

Abraham comments: 'We remain very positive about our outlook and anticipate full year revenue performance consistent with prior growth expectations. We believe we will be able to continue our momentum into 2012 resulting in strong top line growth and even stronger profitability improvements.'
