October 11 2013

IBM is to acquire Dublin-based company The Now Factory, which offers telecoms providers insights into how people use and interact with mobile services. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Tom MorrisroeEstablished in 2007, The Now Factory provides a complete analytics platform for both network and customer analytics derived from massive quantities of network and business data. The company also has offices in Singapore, Madrid and St Petersburg, and in June, it expanded to the US by opening a new office in Seattle, Washington.

IBM said in a statement that the acquisition complements its MobileFirst Analytics portfolio, which is designed to help organisations analyze mobile device usage. Bob Picciano, GM, Information Management, IBM Software Group, adds: 'Today's announcement is part of IBM's strategy to continually establish leadership in the era of big data and capitalize on the opportunity to analyze data in real time. The Now Factory's software enhances IBM's big data and analytics portfolio by improving the speed, development and implementation of big data solutions, and gives communications service providers the ability to better service their customers.'
