Annual Revenue Up 8% at YouGov

Online research and polling firm YouGov has reported an 8% rise in group revenue to £62.6m for the year ended 31 July 2013. UK, US and Middle East companies all saw substantial growth.

Stephan ShakespeareAdjusted operating profit rose 7% to £6m, while adjusted profit before tax climbed 13% to £6.8m.

During the financial year, revenue from data products and services increased 17%, and now represents 24% of total group revenue. Sales of its brand tracker BrandIndex were up 22% to £5m, omnibus revenue rose 20% to £7.6m, and custom research sales rose 5%.

In the US, revenue increased by 8% to £20.8m, but adjusted operating profit fell by 15% to £2.3m. The UK fared better with an 11% increase to £17.4m, and adjusted operating profit up 19%. Middle East revenue grew by 22%, and French revenue doubled. In the Nordic region, revenue fell 4% to £8.5m, but cost reductions resulted in savings of £0.5m, and in Germany the company reported an improved performance, with revenue at £9.4m and adjusted operating profit up 36% to £0.9m.

Commenting on the coming year, CEO Stephan Shakespeare (pictured) said: 'Our focus will remain on maintaining the growth from our expanding suite of data products and services and on focusing resources in all our existing operations to exploit further the advantages of our core operating model. Encouragingly, our clients are demanding a more data centric focus to their market research, and consistent with this, we plan to continue extending our panels to new markets and thus to offer our data and insights to ever greater numbers of clients.'
