iModerate Makes Senior Hires in US

US qual firm iModerate Research Technologies has appointed Umbria co-founder David Howlett as Senior Vice President, Innovation, while former Nielsen exec Chris Smith joins as Vice President of Sales.

Howlett (pictured) previously co-founded social media research and analysis firm Umbria, which wasacquired by McGraw-Hill/JD Power and Associates in 2008. Prior to this, he was part of the founding teams of four start-up technology companies, and served ten years in various product management and innovation capacities at the Sprint Corporation.

Smith joins from Nielsen, where he led the company's sales and account development efforts with financial services companies in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions. Prior to this, he founded start-up company, Banking Growth Sciences, where he helped executives at mid-size banks develop marketing plans.
