IMS Health Buys Life Sciences Analyst Pygargus

IMS Health has acquired Swedish life sciences advisory and analytics firm Pygargus for an undisclosed sum.

Stockholm-based Pygargus specializes in real-world outcomes research, offering expertise in electronic medical records, registry data handling, data integration and scientific project management. Its team of researchers, epidemiologists and statisticians provides clients with analyses of real-world data based on large amounts of patient-level information from electronic medical records and patient registers.

IMS Health says the acquisition will bring together its RWE (real-world evidence) capabilities with Pygargus's proprietary technology for extracting and integrating anonymous patient information from sources such as medical records and claims databases.
