January 9 2014

Research and polling firm Gallup has closed its office in Budapest, Hungary, after 24 years in the country. According to local press reports, twenty employees have been made redundant, and client contracts are now being managed from the London office.

Gallup Closes Office in BudapestGallup, which was founded in the US in 1935 by George Gallup, has around 40 offices in more than twenty countries, and employs approximately 2,000 staff.

The Budapest office posted a decline in 2012 revenues to HUF 587m (£1.63m), and incurred losses of HUF 212m (£0.59m) during the period. Regional online publication portfolio.hu says data from credit assessment bureau Céginfo shows that the National Tax and Customs Office has now launched executory procedure for Gallup's outstanding debts.
