Ipsos Real-terms Revenue Flat

Ipsos has reported a 4.3% decline in annual revenue to EUR 1.71bn, from EUR 1.79bn in 2012. The company blames the fall on exchange rates, its partial withdrawal from Eurozone countries like Greece and Portugal, and the sale of its Los Angeles-based film testing arm. Organic growth was 0.8%.

Ipsos Reports 4.3% Drop in Annual RevenueOn a like-for-like basis, revenues were down 2.7% at the end of the first quarter, but they grew at a 'moderate pace' of 0.4% in the second quarter, and then at a faster rate of 1.8% and 1.6% respectively, in the third and fourth quarters.

By region, on a reported basis, revenue in Asia Pacific dropped 8.8% to EUR 284.6m, in EMEA 2.1% to EUR 752.2m, and in the Americas 4.7% to EUR 675.6m.

By business line, only the Ipsos MediaCT media research business reported actual growth; up 0.7% to EUR 169.7m.

Across the group, gross profit was down 4.3% to EUR 1.09bn, while operating profit rose 2.1% to EUR 182.1m.

Ipsos says there is no reason not to believe 2014 will be a year of 'relative calm'. In a statement, the firm said: 'Ipsos is going into 2014 with a clear vision of its future. We believe we are well placed to speed up our pace, to return to real growth, driven by a more open market, the expansion of new services, the confidence of our clients, the growth and commitment of our staff, and the continued creation of an operating infrastructure that will allow us to work better and quicker.'
