App UX Platform Lookback Gets $2.2m

March 28 2014

In Sweden, a team of former Spotify engineers has raised $2.2m in seed funding for their Lookback platform, used for mobile app user experience testing.

Jonatan LittkeDeveloped by the firm's founders Joachim Bengtsson and Jonatan Littke, the platform analyses user experiences via video testimonials, captured directly on mobile devices. This system enables testers to record video sessions on app bugs and usability problems, and promises designers and developers a 360 degree understanding of how users communicate with their apps, using the front-facing camera to record user expressions alongside on-screen interactions.

The financing round was led by Lakestar, with participation from Index Ventures and other angels, including Ilya Sukhar, founder of Facebook-acquired mobile infrastructure firm Parse. Funds will be used to scale both the platform and team, and also expand Lookback's services to new areas.

Littke (pictured) comments: 'User experience is something that so many companies can't seem to get right - mainly because they simply do not have the tools to do so. That's why we made Lookback, as a way to give everyone access to a great quality, highly intuitive way to accurately and efficiently capture actual user experience.'

Along with this funding, Lookback is also launching its new 'Lookback Safe' product, which allows any user to instantly become a UX tester.
