Affectiva Unveils 'Score' Metric and API

August 18 2014

Emotion analytics specialist Affectiva has developed a 'simple and intuitive' metric linked to its Affdex facial recognition suite. The 'Affdex Score' and associated API allow clients to integrate data on emotional reaction to content into their existing systems.

The 'Score' taps what the company calls 'the world's largest database of emotion analytics' and can be 'seamlessly integrated' into clients' analytic platforms giving a variety of users easier access to the insight it represents.

Affectiva says the normative database on which the new release is based has been compiled from nearly 15,000 media units, 4.5 billion emotion data points, and 3 million face videos from more than 73 countries across the globe. The Score measures consumers' emotional engagement to media content and helps compare performance across markets, regions and product categories. The new API integrates it along with raw data including time-series analytics, media testing norms and statistical measures.

President and CEO Nick Langeveld comments: 'Our clients have requested a simple and intuitive way to summarize and compare the performance of their media, based on the emotional response of their consumers. With many clients having established their own analytic platforms, integrating our emotion-intelligence layer into their solution was a necessity.'
