Gap Intelligence Buys Forecasting Specialist

September 8 2014

US-based technology market analysis firm Gap Intelligence has acquired specialist forecasting business Quixel Research, with terms not disclosed.

Gap aims to function as 'an outsourced arm of clients' daily market intelligence operations', and its primary focus is on IT hardware and consumer electronics devices. Quixel, which was founded in 2001 and focuses on the television, projector and soundbar industries, will now be re-branded as 'Quixel Research - a Gap Intelligence company'. Gap says the acquired firm's expertise will expand its own across 'nearly 25 industry segments'.

In addition, Quixel's leaders will help Gap to integrate forecasting capabilities into its existing services. Gary Peterson, founder and President of Gap, comments: 'Forecasting is underserved within market research. This acquisition not only enables us to dig deeper into today's trends, but will influence our clients' long-term strategies by helping them explain the why'. He adds that he believes 'the service of market sizing and forecasting is applicable to everything that we do... all the industries and products that we cover.
