WPP's digital network VML has agreed to acquire Shanghai-based social media monitoring specialist Teein. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.Founded in 2004 by Roy Yan (pictured), Teein captures, analyses and evaluates data through its proprietary Socialet news and social media public opinion monitoring system; and quantitatively measures and benchmarks social media influence using its BrandTrends solution. It also offers social media marketing strategy, creative ideas/content marketing, social apps, and platform integration.
The firm has more than 170 employees and additional branches in Beijing and Guangzhou, and for the year ending 31st December 2013, unaudited revenues were RMB 43.5m.
In a statement, WPP said the acquisition marks a further step towards its goal of developing its networking in fast-growth markets and sectors.
