CrowdTwist Names New CEO

January 13 2015

New York-based CrowdTwist, which develops loyalty programs as a means of gathering data about customers' multi-channel behavior, has appointed tech sector exec Scott Matthews as Chief Executive Officer.

Scott MatthewsCrowdTwist, which was founded in 2009, offers a platform giving clients a 360-degree view of customer interactions with their brands across social media, purchases and e-mail activities. Customers accrue points for actions such as liking a brand's Facebook profile, or subscribing to e-mail notifications, and these points can be redeemed for rewards, designed to increase their brand loyalty. The platform tracks customer data such as age, gender, location, social media influence, and online activity, and companies can use this data to understand their customers and target their marketing activities accordingly.

Matthews (pictured) previously served as CEO of retail product software firm WebCollage, prior to its acquisition by Answers.com in 2013, when he became General Manager of the Answers Syndication business. Earlier, he held a variety of leadership roles at companies such as Oracle, Siebel Systems, Optum Interworld and Secure Computing.

He takes over from co-founder Irving Fain, and is tasked with building on the firm's momentum, while introducing more products to the marketplace. Board Director Deborah Farrington comments: 'As more and more Fortune 1000 brands turn to loyalty marketing to drive customer engagement, personalization, and sales, Scott possesses the perfect combination of experience with one foot in the marketing world and the other in sales and management.'
