Rapid Growth for Big Data Firm Explorys

January 26 2015

Cleveland, Ohio-based healthcare big data firm Explorys is to recruit eighty people, growing its headcount to more than 200.

Charlie LougheedThe company's software, based on search technology designed by former primary care doctor Anil Jain, scans millions of patient medical records via partnerships with 26 major healthcare networks representing about 360 hospitals. 2014 saw rapid expansion, from around 100 to 140 staff, and the new recruits this year will mostly consist of software engineers and data scientists, according to www.cleveland.com . Recent hires include VP of Operations Gregory Yarrington, previously a leader of technology services at Truven Health Analytics and at Thomson Reuters' Healthcare division.

Explorys has room for the expansion in space adjacent to its current offices in University Circle. President & Chief Strategy Officer Charlie Lougheed (pictured) says big data is 'the penicillin of the 21st century' and believes there is plenty of room to grow, to 'upwards of 300 people' - but adds cautiously: 'We're taking it a year at a time.'
