Gartner Reports 12% Research Revenue Rise

Tech research firm Gartner has reported a 12% rise in fourth quarter 2014 revenue to $584.0m, compared with Q4 2013. Revenue in its core Research division also increased 12%, to $373.4m.

Gene HallDuring the quarter, group net income fell 4% to $59.1m due to acquisition-related charges and a higher effective tax rate. Normalized EBITDA rose 15% to $121.7m, while diluted earnings per share was $0.72 in fourth quarter 2014, compared with $0.66 a year earlier.

In the Research division, contract value was $1.603 billion at December 31st 2014, an increase of 13% on a reported basis. Meanwhile, revenue in the Consulting arm rose 3% to $88.3m, and in the Events division 20% to $122.2m.

For the group, full year 2014 total revenue was up 13% to $2.021 billion, and net income was $183.8m compared with $182.8m the previous year. Normalized EBITDA increased 12% to $386.4m, and diluted earnings per share increased 5% to $2.03.

CEO Gene Hall (pictured) says of the results: 'This performance continues our trend of consistent double digit growth in our key financial metrics. The company is as strong as it has ever been as we enter 2015, and we remain confident about our market opportunity and growth potential over the long term.'

For 2015, Gartner is predicting Research revenue of between $1.58 billion and $1.60 billion.
