Ebiquity Exec Dies after London Tube Accident

May 1 2015

Joe Burgess, an Account Manager at media and marketing insights firm Ebiquity, was killed last month after being hit by a London tube train during the morning rush hour. He died in St Mary's Hospital on 13th April, three days after the accident.

Joe BurgessBurgess (pictured) worked for Ebiquity in Central London for the past four years, having joined the firm as a Media Executive in 2011, after completing his BSc in Psychology from the University of York two years earlier. While at university, he and friends in the film-making society produced comedy clips that have been viewed more than five million times on YouTube; and during this time, he also hosted a radio show called Radio Pie. Prior to the accident, he had been sharing a flat in Brixton, south London, with his girlfriend Imogen Willetts and another friend.

According to reports, the 27-year-old suffered serious head injuries when he was hit by a Northern Line train as it pulled into Stockwell station, after he had bent down to pick up his bag on the platform.

Friends and family have set up a Just Giving fundraising page in his memory and nearly £6,000 has already been raised for the London Air Ambulance. A £2,000 donation has been made by colleagues of Joe's father Mark Burgess, who is a senior director at Ipsos MORI. Those wishing to make a donation, can do so at: www.justgiving.com/joe-burgess .
