Dubai-based market research app developer TaskSpotting has closed $1.2m in Series A funding, and will expand to Saudi Arabia and Egypt in the next three months, according to cofounder and CEO Karim Aly.
The app, which according to www.wamda.com now has 35,000 users and clients including Mars, Unilever, IKEA and Estée Lauder, allows users to undertake small research tasks, in return for cash via PayPal. The investment was led by Mena Venture Investments and an as yet unnamed Saudi corporate.
Six weeks ago, Seattle, USA-based insights platform Spare5 announced it had raised $10m for its platform, which involves a community of members completing micro-tasks including survey completion - as well as photo and video tagging and editing - in their spare time.
