Ipsos Partners with Indigenous Peoples Specialist

In Australia, Ipsos has announced a partnership with indigenous communications and research company Winangali, aimed at increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander economic
participation and providing employment opportunities and business partnerships.

The firms, who have been working together on projects involving these communities for the past decade, are formalising the arrangement and will conduct a number of market and social research studies, including evaluation and community consultation / engagement.

Winangali is an independent Aboriginal owned and managed consultancy, dedicated to developing a dialogue with indigenous Australians. With assets including the Ngara network of more than 60 indigenous people across urban, regional and remote Australia, it works in the areas of cultural awareness, indigenous employment and recruitment, marketing and communications, as well as corporate social responsibility. Ipsos' help will include access to research expertise, plus technological and infrastructure support. This will include initiatives such as a Reconciliation Action Plan, indigenous supply chain initiatives and providing employment opportunities for staff with Aboriginal
and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds'.

Outgoing Ipsos Australia and New Zealand CEO Hamish Munro (pictured) says the deal 'formalises a great working heritage' and comments: 'Economic participation is an essential step towards improving life outcomes and empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, families and communities in Australia'.

Winangali MD Noel Niddrie says the partnership will allow his firm 'to leverage a range of technological advances and methodological solutions that would otherwise be cost prohibitive for any small business to develop'. He adds: 'Significantly, this partnership will produce meaningful outcomes for Indigenous Australians and give real effect to the Commonwealth's Indigenous Procurement Policy rather than just 'black cladding' a non-Indigenous company'.
