Slight Upturn for Kantar in April

June 10 2016

In a trading update, WPP says its Data Investment Management division Kantar returned to like-for-like growth in April, after a flat first quarter. Net sales were up 5.8 percent at constant currency, or 0.3 percent like-for-like. For the Group as a whole, the comparable figure was 3.1 percent.

Although small, the DIM growth in April was an improvement on a tiny like-for-like decline in the first three months (-0.1%). WPP said all regions except the UK showed growth in the month, with Continental Europe, Latin America and Africa particularly strong.

In constant currencies, revenue in the advertising and media investment management division grew by 9.3%, with like-for-like growth of 6.7% in the first four months, slightly lower than the first quarter but still the strongest performing sector.

The statement followed the Group's Wednesday AGM at which the support of two thirds of shareholders pushed through CEO Sir Martin Sorrell's remuneration deal totalling around £70m.
