Neustar to Split, Rebrand Marketing / Data Unit

June 24 2016

Real-time information services provider Neustar, Inc. is to split into two publicly traded companies, separating its call routing services for telecom carriers from its marketing, security and data services. The latter will be rebranded.

Lisa HookNeustar has expanded its presence in the information and analytics market over the last five years with high profile acquisitions, including Targus Information Corp. in October 2011, media intelligence specialist Aggregate Knowledge (AK) for a reported $119m two years later; and analytics tech firm MarketShare Partners, LLC last November for $390m. Nine months ago it partnered with Kantar Shopcom, to help marketers measure the impact of their off-line and online marketing initiatives.

The separation if approved by the Board will take around twelve months to complete, reports www.circleid.com . Neustar Chief Executive Lisa Hook (pictured) will serve as the President and CEO of the information services company, with CFO Paul Lalljie leading the telecom business.

Chairman James Cullen comments: 'We carefully considered a variety of strategic alternatives and determined that a spin-off is the optimal path forward for Neustar. The proposed spin-off will enable Neustar shareholders to own and value each business separately, allowing each company to attract the investor base most appropriate for its distinct investment profile'.
