August 3 2016

Social media monitoring firm Socialbakers has developed a scoreboard through which to compare Olympic athletes and national teams' social media support from their fans, with the number of medals won.

Socialbakers Debuts Olympic Games Scoreboard'Social Games 2016 Scoreboard' allows fans and sponsors to track teams' social media 'performance' across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram live during the Rio de Janeiro games opening this week. Users can compare their team's scores to those of the 'top three' social media nations, and to the number of medals won. In addition, social media content produced by athletes and sponsors is measured, to determine which individual content resonates with audiences the most.

CEO Robert Lang comments: 'At Socialbakers we always strive to use our analytics solutions and capability in innovative ways to allow the public to stay up to date with the latest social media activity. We will continue to use our technology to cover global events, unite fans with teams from all sports, and provide data to event participants so they can build genuine relationships through social media'.
