In the US, marketing software and solutions firms Marketo has appointed long-time SAP exec Steve Lucas as Chief Executive Officer, replacing founder and current CEO Phil Fernandez, who will step down on November 1st.
Marketo, based in San Mateo, CA and recently acquired by private equity firm Vista, produces software and solutions which span digital, social media, mobile and off-line channels, and also has a research centre serving as a hub for collaboration with other organizations on marketing research and thought leadership initiatives. Lucas (pictured) joins with a background of leading multi-billion dollar businesses through the development of cloud, mobile, database and analytics solutions. For the past eleven years, he worked at management software giant SAP, most recently as President of Enterprise Platform & Analytics; and previously as EVP, Business Analytics, Database & Technology. He is also a Board Member at digital TV and DVR firm TiVo and e-mail infrastructure company SendGrid.
Commenting on Lucas' appointment, Fernandez said: 'I founded Marketo with a bold vision that marketers would take on a powerful new role within their organizations, owning customer engagement and digital transformation.
