Obituary: Telmar Founder Stanley Federman

Stanley Federman, the founder of media planning and targeting software company Telmar, passed away peacefully on February 17th in Jupiter, Florida. He was 78 years old.

Stanley FedermanBorn in New York, Federman (pictured) received a Bachelor of Science from the Wharton School of Business, a Master of Business Administration from the Baruch school, and completed the Harvard University Owner-Manager Program. In his early career, he served as an officer in the US Army, and then spent eight years with Young & Rubicam as a Media Supervisor and Director of Data Systems.

In 1968, he left to set up the media research software company Telmar, whose products are used to analyze syndicated data through third-party software. The firm introduced the first computerized means of working with consumer research and media audience data, as well as innovations in reach and frequency modeling, advertising spend optimization, and data integration technologies. From a small office in New York City, Federman built the business into the largest independent provider of advertising and media planning systems, serving 25,000+ users in ten offices across the globe.

He is survived by his partner Mary Bay, a daughter, two sons and two grandchildren.
