Warner Bros. Adds C-Suite Data Strategy Role

In the US, Warner Bros. Pictures has promoted JP Richards, adding the role of Chief Data Strategist to his existing title of Executive Vice President, Worldwide Marketing.

JP RichardsIn the EVP role, Richards (pictured) oversees domestic and international digital teams, leading campaigns for titles such as 'Wonder Woman', 'Mad Max: Fury Road', and 'Batman v Superman'. He also leads data-driven marketing efforts across Warner Bros. and Time Warner. Prior to joining the business in 2015, he spent twelve years at Universal Pictures, latterly as SVP, Digital Marketing.

In the Chief Data Strategist role he will oversee data strategies, data-driven media, audience intelligence and new approaches to the use of data in marketing for all the studio's film releases. He will also work closely with Blair Rich, President, Worldwide Marketing, on the development and execution of Warner Bros. Pictures' marketing efforts; and with Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and Distribution, on setting marketing strategy for the division's releases.

Commenting on the appointment, Kroll said: 'Now more than ever, our campaigns need to be fully integrated and customized around the new ways audiences connect with and are motivated by marketing activations. JP has a skill set that brilliantly combines strategic and innovative thinking with data-driven media to deliver creative, effective results. I'm excited he'll be taking an expanded role on our marketing team'.
