WPP Firms Launch Amazon Optimisation Service

June 28 2017

WPP agencies POSSIBLE and Mindshare have linked up to launch an integrated marketing and commerce offer to help companies optimise their investments across the various platforms of online shopping giant Amazon.

According to www.mediapost.com , the offer will be available via six US offices, plus London and Singapore, and pools Mindshare's media planning and buying, data analysis and strategy expertise with POSSIBLE's ecommerce, data analysis and creative nous. WPP points to Amazon's extraordinary dominance within consumer buying, with 55% of US consumers now beginning their online product searches on Amazon, versus only 28% who use a search engine and 16% a retailer's web site.

eMarketer forecasts ad Revenue of $1bn this year and more than $20bn by 2020 for Amazon, putting it in third place behind Google and Facebook. According to Joe Migliozzi, Shop+ Lead at Mindshare, 'If brands aren't thinking about Amazon as a media platform, they run the risk of becoming obsolete'.

Meanwhile WPP is recovering from a cyber-attack which struck the Group yesterday and affected a number of firms and organisations around the world. The Group confirmed that 'some of its information technology systems have been affected' by the 'Petya' ransomware attack yesterday afternoon; and this morning said it had taken steps to contain the attack and minimise service disruption, with issues addressed 'on a company-by-company basis'. CEO Sir Martin Sorrell wrote to employees to say that no employee or client data appeared to have been compromised.
