The management of UK-based telecoms and IT sector market research agency Rhetorik have bought the firm in a deal supported by a team of UK and North American data tech-focused investors. Terms were not disclosed.

Meredith AmdurFounded by Richard Foskett in 1994, and sold to BI intelligence company Matrix Solutions in 2010, Rhetorik provides intelligence on the deployment of information technology, communications and telecoms (ICT) products and services. Its data products rely on in-house research efforts as well as curated data feeds from partners, and the firm also provides online tools and research-verified data about enterprise users in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Following the buy-out, Rhetorik will be expanding the range of sectors it supports to reflect the latest trends in IT sales, while providing new products such as better integration into CRM and marketing automation platforms. Investor and data tech entrepreneur Meredith Amdur (pictured) has joined as CEO, having previously served as CEO of WANTED Technologies prior to its acquisition by CEB, and earlier held leadership roles with Microsoft, Deloitte and Informa.

Foskett comments: 'Sales and marketing professionals are increasingly looking for more insight into all their potential opportunities and they need current, accurate and specific data to deliver this. Helping these professionals to embed this new use of data as an intrinsic part of their workflows is a huge opportunity, and the new members of Rhetorik's management team bring exactly the skills needed to exploit this'.
