Voxpopme Taps IBM Watson for Advanced Sentiment Analysis

August 1 2017

UK-based mobile video MR specialist Voxpopme is integrating IBM Watson's machine learning and natural language processing capabilities into its platform, to provide brands with advanced analysis of customers' feelings.

Dave CarruthersFounded in 2013 by Dave Carruthers and Andrew Barraclough, Voxpopme offers an app collecting consumer feedback on brands in the form of video responses direct from mobile phones, and includes a sentiment analysis feature. The firm is based in Birmingham, with additional offices in the US and Australia.

Voxpopme will now use IBM Watson's sentiment analysis to process the transcribed text of videos in its platform, determining whether sentiment is positive, negative or neutral, with an associated score. IBM's system can also be applied to Voxpopme's Theme Explorer, which is able to demonstrate the sentiment breakdown of each theme identified within a video project, and identify the most positive and negative sentences related to that theme.

Carruthers (pictured) comments: 'We're delighted to be releasing our new sentiment analysis tools. Clients will now be able to understand the subtle nuances of every comment made. Along with our other platform features, sentiment analytics builds a deeper understanding of large volumes video, in less time, to establish tangible insights that can drive business outcomes'.
