Global MD for WPP Public Sector Practice

WPP's public sector unit The Government Practice has appointed Sean Howard as Global Managing Director, reporting to CEO Michelle Harrison.

The Practice was launched in 2014 and helps governments worldwide to communicate effectively to deliver their policy objectives - bringing in expertise from more than 100 different agencies across the group.

Howard joined WPP in 2005, first at Wunderman where he helped build the Seattle-based integrated Team Microsoft and lead the pitch to become T-Mobile's agency of record. In 2012 he became MD of Y&R New York, where he successfully led the pitch for the U.S. Navy. In his new job he will continue with the Navy role while overseeing US government business development efforts at the Federal, State and Local levels.

Harrison, a former Chief Executive of TNS BMRB, says of the appointment: 'Sean's proven track record in converting complex, large-scale contracts with horizontal, multi-disciplinary teams will be a real asset to our future growth. As Global Managing Director, Sean will work with me to develop our largest pursuits, oversee our thought leadership programme and support The Government Practice regional leaders in ANZ, Singapore, India, the Middle East, the EU and the UK'.
