Cognitive Marketing Firm AIQ Launches in US

In the US, a team of former consumer goods and retail marketing execs have launched a 'cognitive marketing' agency, AIQ, which will use shopper engagement data and artificial intelligence (AI) to help brands and retailers communicate with consumers and enhance ROI.

Greg Murtagh and Soren MillsThe San Francisco-based AIQ team is led by Greg Murtagh, the founder and former CEO of Triad Retail Media (acquired by WPP's audience profiling and targeting division Xaxis last year), and Soren Mills, who was previously Head of Global eCommerce at Walmart.com. Their new agency has been set up to help brands and retailers find and organize shopper data across their businesses, and integrate that data into an AI engine called BrandBrain, to boost shopper engagement and ROI. BrandBrain, which is powered by customer engagement platform Augment, is then used to create new two-way conversations with a brand's best customers, across a range of marketing channels.

Murtagh comments: 'Brands and retailers need to seize control of their shopper data. They need to identify, integrate, scale and leverage it, powered by AI, if they are going to achieve the dual objectives of selling effectively through current channels, while simultaneously building the direct relationships they will need to establish new businesses. If they don't assimilate the data to create a clear picture of their shopper and their journey, Amazon definitely will'.
